History
Uncover Our Story
The journey of AWOKE India® Group is rooted in a vision to build a financially aware and empowered India.
Our founder, Mr. Pravin Kumar Dwivedi, a seasoned banker with over 23 years of experience across leading national and international financial institutions, began his career with IDBI Bank, where he served for three years. His professional journey took him across several Indian states — Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Bihar — where he witnessed firsthand a significant lack of financial literacy among people from all walks of life.
This realization became a turning point. During his tenure with HSBC Bank, the idea of creating a platform to foster financial literacy began to take shape. In July 2012, after a distinguished banking career, Mr. Dwivedi decided to transform this vision into action — and AWOKE India was born in September 2012 with a clear mission:
To educate, empower, and enable individuals to make informed financial decisions and achieve lasting financial security.
The Foundation of Two Entities
- Under Mr. Dwivedi’s leadership, two distinct yet complementary entities were established:
- AWOKE India Foundation (AIF): A non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Financial Literacy and Investor Education across communities.
- AWOKE India Consultants Private Limited (AICPL): A for-profit enterprise that promotes the ethos of financial literacy through training, consulting, and awareness initiatives such as the Investor Awareness Program (IAP).
- Through these entities, AWOKE India built strong collaborations with key financial institutions, including the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), National Stock Exchange (NSE), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), and major Mutual Fund Houses.
2018 – Launch of the India Financial Literacy Conclave (IFLC)
A major milestone came in 2018, when AWOKE India launched the India Financial Literacy Conclave (IFLC) — an annual national event designed to bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and educators to:
Strengthen the ecosystem for Financial Literacy and Investor Education, and Strategize actionable steps toward realizing AWOKE India’s Vision. Since its inception, IFLC has grown into a highly regarded platform, witnessing enthusiastic participation from stakeholders across India each year.
2021 – Giving Back Through ALAKH
Driven by the belief that knowledge should reach every corner of society, Awoke Learning and Knowledge Home (ALAKH) was launched in 2021.
This initiative offers free, holistic education to underprivileged children, nurturing their academic and personal development while bringing smiles and hope to countless young lives.
2022 – Partnership with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
In 2022, AWOKE India was invited by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to participate in the Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) initiative — a prestigious recognition of our contribution to financial awareness.
Under this initiative, 27 CFL Centres were established in Bahraich, Prayagraj, and Ballia (Uttar Pradesh), working actively to strengthen financial inclusion and literacy at the grassroots level.
2024 – Expanding the Impact
In 2024, the RBI further entrusted AWOKE India with the implementation of CFL Phase III, allocating:
- 49 additional centers in Uttar Pradesh, and
- 34 new centers in Bihar.
This milestone marked a significant expansion of our efforts to make financial literacy a national movement and reaffirmed AWOKE India’s position as a trusted partner in India’s financial empowerment journey.
Continuing the Journey
From a single idea in 2006 to a movement spanning multiple states, AWOKE India® Group continues to evolve — blending innovation, impact, and inclusivity. With every initiative, we move closer to our vision of a “वित्तीय साक्षर भारत, विकसित भारत” – A Financially Literate and Developed India.
